Specialisation: Acting for both businesses and individuals in a wide variety of employment and commercial disputes. Regularly instructed in interim injunction applications, particularly in relation to the enforcement of restrictive covenants in contracts of employment. Very considerable expertise in all branches of discrimination law as well as in whistleblowing claims. Police law: advising police forces (including the Metropolitan Police) on matters of law unique to the police. Acting for both claimants and defendants in large scale personal injury claims. Thriving appellate practice: reported cases include: Guernina v Thames Valley University [2008] EWCA Civ 34, CA (whether national terms and conditions for university lecturers precluded outside concurrent employment); Scope v Thornett [2007] ICR 236, CA (case overturning a line of authorities involving the assessment of compensation where a degree of speculation is inevitably required); Coors Brewers Ltd v Adcock and others [2007] ICR 983, CA (representing over 500 claimants in a bonus claim); London Borough of Lambeth v Corlett [2007] ICR 88, EAT (application of the statutory dispute resolution procedures); Kaid v Gruppo Ltd [2004] UKEAT 0546/03/25: (illegality in contracts of employment); London Underground Ltd & anr v Ferenc-Batchelor & anr [2003] ICR 656, EAT (Right to be accompanied at disciplinary and grievance hearings); National Power v Young [2001] ICR 328: CA: (Time Limits in Equal Pay cases); Kapadia v London Borough of Lambeth [2000] IRLR 699: CA (the first Disability Discrimination case to be supported by the Disability Rights Commission).

Career: Called to the Bar 1994; previously studied Medicine at Guys' Hospital, qualifying as a Doctor of Medicine in 1991 (with distinction in surgery).
